The Opt-In Form

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well.

I really must tell you that the social side of this course is something I didn’t expect. There is a closed Face Book group especially set up for this course and all the members are so helpful. Even if your problem is not directly course related everyone jumps in with ideas to help. They will even visit your blog and make suggestions they think will improve the site. This makes you realize you are not alone in this and there is no need to struggle on by yourself.

Now, let’s talk more about the course. If you haven’t read my previous blogs, the course I am following is John Thornhill’s ‘Partnership to Success’. I hope you are all finding this interesting and easy to follow. Maybe even getting the urge to sign up on a course yourselves. Please let me know if I ramble on too much and don’t make sense to you. For me, things are beginning to get more interesting now that Aweber is on the scene.

Create a Sign-up Form

The main purpose of our blog is to inform and help people, but also we need to harvest their email addresses into our mailing lists. In order for subscribers to join our lists there must be some way for them to sign-up or opt-in from the blog page. This is where Aweber comes into its own. The first thing we must do is choose a template from the many that Aweber provide for our use. You can even load a custom form if you wish. You can see the form that I chose on the right hand side of my blog. Once chosen and edited to your liking, the form must be saved. You then give your form a name so that it can be distinguished from the many other opt-in forms that you will produce in the future.

Connect Aweber Auto Responder to Blog

The blog theme that we use on this course, Optimize Press, makes connection to Aweber an extremely easy task to perform. Using the theme menus we are led through the process step by step both by the theme itself and by John Thornhill, our leader. It is at this stage that we can change the text and color of the opt-in form if it was not already done in Aweber itself. Then the final stage is adding the form to the side bar of our blog and admiring it.

Now that the sign up form is up the blog looks ready for business. The form needs to be tested to ensure that it works as expected. I have tested out the form and it works as it should do.

The next step is to look at how Social Media will help in our business, which I shall do in my next blog.

    Thank you for your comment Torsten.
    I find that as I am writing the blog and breaking a subject down that it also sticks in my mind.

    I am amazed how much I have learned so far, and we are only in the first few weeks of the course.

    you have already taken some big steps in your journey to internet marketing success. The way how you explain everything makes it sound so easy and easy to follow for everyone.
